Alumni 1995/1996 reunion at Erasmus University
On Saturday 17th of September, our graduates from the year 1995/1996 reunited at Erasmus University to revisit their student life. The day started at 11am with a presentation about the EMLE programme back in 1995/1996 and as of 2022/2023. As it turns out, the partner universities and mobility schemes of our programme have changed substantially over the years. From old consortium partners, like Bologna, Manchester and Lund, to newly joined universities, such as Rome, Barcelona and Haifa. Our founding universities, on the other hand, stayed the same after all those years, being Ghent, Hamburg and Rotterdam. After the presentation, we defied the rainy Dutch weather for a tour of the renewed campus, visiting among others the exam hall, law building, library, and Theil Hall. And, of course, a photo with Desiderius Erasmus himself could not be missing. This marked the end of our day at the university, after which the alumni continued their weekend in Rotterdam on their own.
Originally, the class of 1995/1996 had planned to come to Rotterdam in 2020 for their 25 years anniversary. However, due to Covid-19 restrictions, this reunion could not take place at the time. Luckily, the alumni continued to schedule their get-together and we were very happy to host them at Erasmus University in September 2022. It was very nice to see how this EMLE family reunites and interesting to hear their stories from back in the day. We have invited them to our Midterm Meeting on February 17th in Hamburg and are looking forward to seeing many of you there! If other EMLE alumni would like to visit one of our partner universities or join the Midterm Meeting to reconvene with their classmates and/or meet current EMLE students, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at alumni@emle.org.
